Hmm. Interesting this. Had heard about it during the interval at Stravinsky Staged.

I wonder if it's at all linked to the arrival of Ross Stretton?
Any ideas?

As far as I have understood this, the reason for their departure from AB was Stretton and one can only imagine their surprise (to put it politely) when he was appointed as Direcotr at the RB !
it is a great pity as far as he is concerned, as I felt he was growing as an artist. We have hardly seen her and it would not be fair to comment on her talents...

Oh dear, that's yet another strong male lead dancer the Royal Ballet has lost! Our loss is Australia's gain. Let's hope the reverse is true too...

There is certainly a view that knowledge of the arrival of Ross Stretton prompted them to review their career choice / employment perhaps more carefully this year. However McAlister (sp?) out in Australia seems to command particularly wide respect and Burley goes as a principal, so there are strong positive reasons for the move. And whether all this Stretton stuff is right or wrong is not perhaps key - since the beginning of time chiefs have favourite Indians and visa versa. So I don't think the movement of 2 dancers should be seen as particularly concerning for the future. I suspect the real fun will come once Stretton is here full time and seen the company at work for a season.

Er.. and I am sorry to see Burley Burley go.
