"Stars of the Bolshoi in Glasgow - Tonight."

   Yes really !
I just found out that the Bolshoi are at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall tonight. And that there are still seats available.

This is all very puzzling because the Bolshoi are also at Drury Lane tonight, according to Ballet.cos listings.

Can anyone shed any light ?
Do they have a second company touring the country while the first is in London ?
Anyone know where else they're appearing ?
Is this some kind of a B team ?

Carly, the Bolshoi (like the Kirov) is a big company of well over 200 dancers, and can perform in 3 different places at the same time. I know that while there is currently a group dancing at London's Drury Lane, there's another contingent dancing in Italy, and also there are performances at home in Moscow. So I am not surprised to hear that there's one more group performing in Glasgow.
But no doubt the dancers that you see are different from those appearing in Drury Lane.

I posted a bit about this on the Company News page a while back - try taking a look. BTW it's billed as Stars of the Great Russian Ballet Companies featuring Stars of the Bolshoi - subtle difference.

Carlisle tonight, Nottingham Saturday, Northampton Sunday, Oxford Monday, Blackpool Tuesday, and so on. Will try and scan the flyer next week for the other dates.

   Thanks Kevin and Alison.
It turned out to be the first night of the tour you'd posted Alison, but I'd seen no local publicity at all.
Kevin - I hadn't realised how big the Bolshoi is, although last nights program informs me that Bolshoi actually means Big.
I'll try and post some thoughts about last night a bit later.
