"Adam Cooper on video and AMP"

Ok, since the last topic got so long and I figured this was really new one I thought I would start over even though it is still Cooper related.

I have the DVD of Swan Lake - memorized it by now.

Are they any other videos or DVD's that have Adam Cooper dancing on them?

I did read ALL the posts on this site about Cooper and found only one mention of him on a video and that was on a poorly thought of video of another dancer.

There was a mention of him dancing in Car Man for AMP - did that ever happen?

The AMP site mentions a film in the works of Cinderella - wonder how that is going...or if.

LAST EDITED ON 16-05-01 AT 06:56 PM (GMT)

Lara, there is not a lot on commercial video starring Adam, except in the last all-too-brief minute of the film 'Billy Elliot'. However, those of us lucky enough to live in the UK can occasionally tape stuff he has done for television. I will e-mail you with further info on this if you can let me have your e-mail address. Mine is ann.welsh@lineone.net

He's on MacMillan's lovely 'Winter Dreams' for the Royal Ballet, which I think was filmed about eight years ago. He has the small but significant role of one of the two young officers fighting for the hand of one of the three sisters (danced by Viviana Durante). It's certainly available on commercial video.

He is also in Macmillan's Mayerling, again with the Royal Ballet, although in the version I have seen he is playing a minor role rather than Crown Prince Rudolf.

Sorry I meant to go on to say that he did not dance in 'The Car Man' but do look out for it when it comes on TV at Christmas because it is a wonderful show. The film of 'Cinderella' seems highly unlikely to happen.

LARA: I have a short ballet on tape that was transmitted on the TV here in the UK last year called "The Sandman", which has both Adam and Irek dancing (there was some comment on the postings page about it when it went out, if you what to look back.) I'm not sure how I can get it copied, but I will ask Karen if she could manage it, as she made me a copy of another dance programme. The trouble is, I don't know if we can copy stuff onto the right format of video for a USA video machine. Can anyone else help with that one?

I also agree with Karen, look out for the video of Car Man, which I think may be available around Christmas (at least I hope so, as my son wants to give it to me for my Christmas present). It's very different from Swan Lake, but I've bored everyone on these postings by going on about how much I enjoyed it.

He also has a small bit on RB's Sleeping Beauty as "Gold". It's not much, but he does some great dancing.

Sylvia, I'm pretty sure it was William Trevitt who danced 'Gold' on the SB video, not Adam Cooper, but it's too late to go downstairs and check now.

If I'm wrong, I'll post an apology tomorrow!

Ann, William Trevitt did dance "Gold" in the RB Sleeping Beauty, but I think Adam Cooper was one of the four princes in the Rose Adagio

I think the video formats are different - you have PAL and I have NTSC there are machines that can do both but I don''t have one. But if find you can only get a PAL copy then go ahead and I'll figure out a way to get it transferred to the correct thing for me.

I can't wait to see Car Man - even without Cooper just because I have heard so much about it. And you can rave on to me cause I am not bored yet!

Oh, and I have made a desktop of a compilation of images of Cooper than I put into PhotoShop and tweaked quite a bit. It is, well, rather interesting I think. If anyone is interested I can email them a copy. Just email me and say you would like one.

Re Videos, if you want to do an NTSC tape from Pal, think it's worth asking at photo shops. Or try the yellow pages. But be careful to ask about price as it can be VERY expensive. If you look around, you ought to be able to find someone to do it for about 20 per tape. (In the past I was told that for professional tapes the stardard charge was (gulp) 1 a minute. Think prices have come down since then, though.)

It also might be worth reminding them that NTSC apparently takes up more space on the tape...otherwise you might lose the end of your ballet!

On second more logical thought, I have to rescind my offer to share the desktop. From a purely legal standpoint of copyright it is ok for personal use but not for sharing. I am sorry I got carried away!
