Time to take the weight off his feet
As Anthony Dowell hangs up his shoes at the Royal Ballet, he explains why he has no regrets
BY DEBRA CRAINE
Lots of stuff to cause debate in here. A bit of the text that caught me eye... "His proudest achievement was the overseeing of the Royal Balletís move into the redeveloped Royal Opera House in 1999. And lest we forget, he managed to survive the closure period without losing a single dancer, a challenge almost as big as starting the company in the first place." Personally I think this is a gross insult to de Valois's name. And what of the 5 dancers who left because of the lack of opportunity and crazy contractual stuff that was going on. Holding the company together is the job, not something to be praised... (imho of course!)

Don't despair! I think they are just having server problems and hopefully they will be back up as normal before too long.
