YBDY was a fix.Not representative of real British Talent. Incestuous judges -all friends of Director. Many dancers of real talent not at Finals.

I couldnt agree more. Glad and relieved to realise that not every one can be so easily fooled.

Emma Maguire only got a small Kerrison Cooke award this year- to put the record straight- not the Paul Clarke award.
The real winner of the Paul Clarke award this year was Samara Downs-a great dancer-- she seems to have wonheaps too and only 16!
Wish we saw more of her than we do!!
Anyone else seen her talent and beautiful eyes? She is so musical

I did talk to a number of parents about YBDY, all who felt that this was not worth entering as it would not be a contest that would be judged fairly.

Having been a "dancing and festival father" for a number of years and who's children have entered lots of compertitions you get to know which ones to enter. It seems a shame to me that children cannot at times compete on a level footing.

Often it is not how good you are but where you train or who you are trained by.

I heard that at the recent auditions for scholarships at the Yorkshire Ballet seminars that the boys who were awarded scholarships were all "known" because of which collage or school they attend.

Hardly fair or the other boys and their parents.

   annelisa,

just because that is how the dance word has been for many years , does NOT mean we should accept the cons and dishonesty in the future. It is about time dancers stood up and demanded fair play and Honesty--otherwise we are just a bunch of idiots who allow our lives to be corrupted by a few control freaks who do not value real talent .
