"Telegraph Booking"

Someone said that they thought that the Telegraph were selling Royal Ballet tickets as well as the Kirov. All the advertising etc only refers to the Kirov. Anyone know the answer?

When I got through the Telegraph booking line the recorded info. told all the Hochhauser summer season programmes were bookable. It appears the line was connected to ROH box office; once you get through you hear the familiar ballet music while being put on hold.

Yes, they are - a friend has booked seats for, I think, the RB as well. I would have done so as well, but since I'm currently credit-card-less it makes it rather difficult. And it definitely puts you through to the ROH Box Office, just at a national-rate call and with a share of the profits going to the owner of the number (D. Telegraph?) - sneaky.

Correction - as I've said elsewhere, you can no longer book for anything except the Kirov via the TElegraph service.

Yes you can book the Kirov via the Telegraph number 020 7538 5000. I tried to book for the Opera on Saturday ringing at opening time 10 am. At 10,10.01,10.02,10.03,a recorded message afterwards complete blockage. I managed to get through later in the day, no luck at my price range, all gone. I was told that I would have more hope booking for the Ballet as demand was patchy, fortunately I have tickets for Jewells from a friend and I will not bother with the rest, I am looking forward to the San Francisco ballet which despite the telephone message you cannot book via the Telegraph yet. Incidently the Opera tickets are really expensive, they make the ballet look reasonable!

LAST EDITED ON 17-04-01 AT 04:01 PM (GMT)

I have followed Ann Williams' information on the Telegraph arrangements and found it to be spot-on. Today, Tuesday, I have been able to buy stalls circle standing places for 15 for most of the performances I wanted and seats for the remainder.

The number I used is 0870 160 7000, which looks like an alternative to the one given above. No codeword or anything needed. As Alison has said after selecting the ballet and opera option, you will be connected to a special line at the ROH. I was on hold for about 5 minutes before getting through which is better than usual for the ROH Box Office. I suspect it will be very slim pickings when the public booking opens. Move fast!

In passing the VH website is jolly good, with cast lists (yes, I know there will be changes) and excellent photos:
