I can't ask because I'm in Japan but I'd like to know what kind of programme the RB makes. Does it have photos and profiles of main dancers, introduction and comments of the performances..like programme we get in Japan which is nice with photos but very expensive (30 to 50 $)? Is it also expensive ? Or is it special for the Gala only ? Thank you. junko

Big Gala programmes tend to be different - larger and more lavish than the ordinary ones... and more expensive. Think the last ones were 10pounds. They have some dancer details but from what some (leading) ballet folks in Japan tell me and the odd example i have we tend not to concentrate on the individual dancers so much in the programme. I think this is more about differences in national style than anything and such programmes are always worth having (I reckon)

   Thank you so much, Bruce.
You are right..when we, most (not all, of course) of ballet performance goers in Japan pay more attention to dancers than choreography, performance...we go there to see your favorite dancer, Guillem, Kumakawa, Cooper (in my case), and most of the cases, you go for the different performances with your favorite dancer's casting, and don't go for the same performance with different casting to enjoy and compare the piece itself. One of the reasons may be because of the expensive ticket price and lack of ballet performance-purpose theaters (when you have a low-price seat in big hall which is good for rock concert, you don't see and listen anything ! sometimes better to stay home to see video)
I hope seeing your review/thought of this Gala !

Afraid you won't be seeing my thoughts. For one reason or another this is not really a gala for me: a number of people feel the same way and there was a thread about this when it was first announced - do a Search in postings if you are interested. But as you can see more than a few others will be there and I'm sure there will be lots of reports

I have also not been able to get tickets but would dearly love to have a program as a momento of such an important event. I would be very grateful also if someone could possibly purchase a program for me and I would be happy to send the money on. If you could put a posting on this page and we could get in contact.
Thank you so much. Sara
