Here is an article that I quote verbatim from the April issue of the ABC's "24 Hours" magazine. (The ABC is, of course, The Australian Broadcasting Corporation).
Barbie and Ken are to appear in a film version of Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Nutcracker". It will be choreographed by Peter Martins of the New York City Ballet, with music by the London Symphony Orchestra. While Barbie has an ideal dancer's physique, her ballet career until now has been restricted by acute inflexibility. The roles of Clara (Barbie) and the Nutcracker (Ken) will be performed by New York City Ballet dancers, then superimposed with computer-generated images of Barbie and Ken. Toy manufacturer Mattel says the film is being made for TV and video release in October.
Personally, I would have thought Barbie's breasts are too large for her to be considered to have an ideal dancer's body. Also she does insist on tying her ribbons up to her knees, so maybe she needs to take in a few more lessons before accepting the film role.
