"David Parson?"

ABT is presenting a full length Pied Piper choreographed by David Parsons. Does anyone know anything about him? I'm curious, but not ready to gamble on a ticket.

All I know is that ENB put on one or two of his short pieces nearly a decade ago. I thought he was a contemporary choreographer rather than a ballet one, but don't really know enough to comment further, I'm afraid.

They have been showing quite a few of his works on the new Artsworld satellite channel over here. I quite liked the bits I saw, very contemporary and quite fun. If he comes on again I will try to remember to tape it for you.

Something called The Parsons Dance Company (direct from New York) seems to be about to tour here. They are coming to my part of the UK in May. The blurb is as follows:-
"Formed in 1987 by David Parsons, hailed as one of the most influential choreographers of the moment.
The Company's reputation is based on David Parsons' sheer theatricality, called a pure and rare gift by his peers and critics alike. The programme is made up of six works, the most famous of which, 'The Envelope', is a dark comic piece satirising everything from mundane paper-pushing to Swan Lake!" Sounds like a cross between the Trocks and AMP.

This sounds like it could be fun. Pied Piper would certainly allow lots of room for theatricality. Maybe I'll take a chance.

Thank you all.

David Parsons spent nearly ten years with the Paul Taylor company. For more information, see the Parsons company's website:
