"postings"

I have been readng the latest postings with interest, and feel there are so many differances of opinions, all very interesting and it seem to be POB versus RB,it also appears that the same people are travelling between London and Paris to see the ballet, so why not form a club either in London or Paris were they can meet, could be interesting, as they all have a commom interest THE BALLET, how about it, maybe Jim or Bruce could set it up. how do you feel about this.

Yes, when people feel passionately about something there are bound to be controversies! We must be so grateful to Bruce for giving us the forum to "let off steam"!!

Unlike Monsieur G.M. I am not too affluent, so visits to Paris will always be a rare treat. Maybe it would be possible for one of the Paris-based contributors to consider your idea.

Good idea, maybe before perfomances, Paris Cafe l'entracte London Cafe Valerie, or Pauls, maybe meet at six pm on the evenings or afternoon when going to Covent Garden or Palais Garnier, this will only cost the price of a coffee, it would be fun to see the faces of the names on ballet postings. would be loads to discuss, maybe exchange photographs and video's, or maybe find a meeting point in the opera houses, for example pit lobby Covent Garden, first floor lobby left hand side back facing auditorium Palais Garnier, what do others think about this????

A poll might be an excellent idea. I should point out though that I tried to get something going myself last October when I went to Paris for a Balanchine programme and got only one response, possibly because the trip involved mid-week travel and would have necessitated time off work. Week-end performances might be a possibility, especially since its possible to get good deals from Eurostar and the airlines if you stay over on a Saturday night.

Yes, I like that too - you can see the millipede wheel and even some stars on a clear night - despite the 'light pollution', you can see Sirius and Arcturus easily!

Yes , and the best would be an "exchange" between POB and RB.For example , San Francisco Ballet comes in may , for one week.POB goes to San Francisco for one week also.So that english RB fans could see POB and french POB fans could see RB.Everybody don't have the time nor the budget to go abroad just to see ballet!

That reminds me of what Big Ben (our big clock tower in London) said to the tower in Pisa.

"I've got the time if you've got the inclination".

Great for people to meet up - as long as somebody else arranges or whatever!

In the very early days we used to get together for a meal sometimes. I remember inviting Sylvie for a cury with us after her Juliet (truly!) and Darcey/Angus gave us a wave at an after performance Vindaloo. It was all much smaller and more noval then I think. We also had a Ballet.co picnic at an RBS performance in Holland Park. Those were the days!

Surely it's just a question of letting each other know in these postings who will be where and when, and just take it opportunistically?

For example, I will be at the Triad bill on Thursday. Anyone want to meet me?

Maybe there could be a thread set aside specifically for rendez-vous?
