"deborah bull"

Is Deborah Bull still listed as a principal with the Royal Ballet ? Or is she retired ? simply dancing with another company ? We haven't heard about her since a very long time...

   Hi there Jean-Jaques

I'm not sure if Deborah Bull is still a principal - although she certainly hasn't retired. For instance, she did dance one performance this season at the Royal Opera House of "Swan Lake". Recently, she also danced "The Rite of Spring" in Italy - I think at La Scala.

However, she is currently very heavily involved running ADI, the Artists Development Initiative at the ROH. This is to encourage artistic experimentation and growth for artists within the Royal Ballet and also people from outside - and the results are often presented in the Clore Studio Upstairs.

If it helps, the byline for her article in last week's Telegraph said "principal dancer with the Royal Ballet."

Deborah is still a principal with the Royal Ballet, I saw her dance a fantastic Odette / Odile in December, she is currently guesting in Rome where she is dancing in Jeux with Adam Cooper and has also danced recently with the Croatian National Ballet. As far as I know she is not scheduled to dance much with the Royal Ballet these days but always seems to pop up a a spokesperson for the Opera House and devotes a lot of time to the Artists' Development Initiative (Duo:logue in the Linbury Studio comes as a very hot tip for a fantastic night of contemporary dance)
