"Romeo&Juliet Rehearsal"

I've got a ticket to watch RB's rehearsal for R&J on 2nd Feb. just before the opening performance. I've never watched rehearsals on the stage. Will it be a dress rehearsal ? If so, will Sylvie be there ? How long will it be ? I could ring the box office, but I don't want to wait on the phone for hours just to find nobody can answer my questions.

It sounds like you have tickets for a dress rehearsal. They are usually just as good to see, although you can't judge it as a performance. They normally last as long as a normal performance takes, but may run one as it is a working rehearasal, although this does not usually happen. I should think that it is unlikely that Sylvie will be there, it is normally an opertunilty for somebdy who has not danced the role before or who is not as experienced in it, but you never know who you are going to get until the day. You could try ringing up, but I doubt that the box office will be able to tell you. They are usually very relaxed things to go to as you don't get stares for sitting on the stairs munching on your sandwiches etc. Have fun!!

Thank you for answering my questions, Claire. It sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to being there. Well, I don't expect Sylvie to be there anyway. But one Juliet will be there and that's good enough !

I have found that you often get the person who will be dancing
the next day....maybe this is just a coincidence!

Shirley, it was great ! It was like a real performance more or less. Romeo was Inaki Urlezaga and Juliet was Tamara Rojo. They danced with full of passion and energy. I don't think they knew it was a reheasal !! Tamara's Juliet was so natural and I must say she was one of the best Juliets I've seen. I've never seen Inaki so passionate before. I saw a kind of chemistry between them. They made me cry. I'm looking forward to seening them again in a real performance in March. They were so great that I couldn't help feeling something was missing at the opening performance with Sylvie and Le Riche last night.

How does one get tickets for dress rehersals? I was in London for R & J on Friday evening, and would love to have spent the afternoon in the ROH as well, watching another cast in the same roles.

I booked a ticket through the Friends office. I don't know if tickets for rehearsals can be bought through the box office. I was going to the opening performance anyway and I applied for a ticket for the dress rehearsal as soon as I found out it would be on the same day. I don't live in London, so I always try to do as much as possible when I'm in London.

Jenny..as far as I know, you can only get rehearsal tickets if
you are a Friend, there are very few open rehearsals, usually only 1 per production...if you are a Friend and don`t have a
ticket, you can turn up...at some ungodly hour!....and take a
chance on getting returns. They are very strict about checking
your Friend`s membership!
