Oh ship loads of R&J, Nutcrackers, Swan Lakes etc and from the modern dance wing lots of impenetrable stuff with oddly worded titles.

(At least this way I don't get disappointed/dispirited!)

The key thing would be to try to repeat the trick of reviving more works which have not been seen for a long time, as has happened this year with great success. Plus something by Mark Morris and another William Forsythe piece. And 'Symbiont' of course, especially as many of the dancers know it already.

Now you mention it I would love to see some more Forsythe - perhaps something we have not seen in London yet - and how about some Kylian. I told he has been persona non grata but with a new director that might change!

And please anything by Robbins except Suite of Dances (nice but too long!)

More Forsythe please. England just doesnt understand ballet and the way it is moving. At least some Forsythe would give our dancers and choreographers some sense of direction, instead of the rubbish they are peeling out at the moment.

The best thing would be for England to lead the way in dance, and not to do something when every other company has tried it out first. Lets take a risk, oh but I forgot thats not British isit.

An all-Nijinska programme, please - 'Les Noces', 'Les Biches' and 'Le Train Bleu'. I would also love to see the RB do Balanchine's romantic 'La Somnambula', which doesn't get done much even by NYBC.

I'd love to see the firebird in full....La Barydere (id like to see how RB handels this, probably not as well as the Kirov) I want to see the Kirov and POB in London, might as well throw in NYCB. I want to see Christoper Wheeldon resident choergrapher in RB and not in NYCB..and if i dont get my wish I want the RB to get a brilliant new choregrapher.

But in reality I want Ross Stretton to make RB the best ballet company in the world (Dont i have high expectations!)..i want him to doo well...i really do. I hope than when i move permenantly to NYC that i'll be longing to go and see the RB.

p.s I know this is nothing to do w/ the thread but I read an article that Nuyererv and Fonteyn were friends w/ the the Marcos's!!! (yeah the dictorial couple who squandered my beautiful country the philippines wealth!) Its a bit of a shock to the system... them being friends w/ the Marcos who are guilty of extreme human rights abuses...well anyway my mind wandered a bit.

The intelligent suggestion made by every one makes my intial choices seem very conservative!

But I am bit surprised at Manon - its been on so many times perhaps it is time to give a rest! We had Manon at least 3 times since 1994 yet Mayerling just once!

Mayerling with guest appearances by Michael Nunn.

Some Cranko works from both his early career and later.

Revamped productions of Lac, Beauty and Don Q. we do need good full length popular works.

New choreography of better than Dance Bite status.I am very much for new works but so much of what we are offered is pretentious rubbish and at Opera House prices.

I would like to see some exciting guests used in a challenging (and, of course, entertaining) way which does full justice to their talents, e.g., Le Riche, Corella, Steifel, and, of course, Meunier. Somehow, I don't think the Coppelia as set and the Nutcracker pas do that justice.

Encourage also more new works that relate directly to the music they are employing.

Would enjoy to see more of the Wheeldon ouevre.

Mayerling seems to be on a number of wish lists. I'll go along with that; it looked great on the box (with La Viviana on that occasion). I share Ann's liking for Nijinska, and I'd also be one to see early Cranko. From Robbins, there's Afternoon of a Faun; I've still got a very vivid memory of Jenny Penney in that choreography from a perf. at the ROH about 30 years ago....it's a great piece (and she was great in it).

A piece of Balanchine I've not seen is Mozartiana; does anyone know it? I think LFB did it in the early 70's. Most choreographers seem to stumble when contemplating Mozart I find; this music is from Tchaikovsky's orchestral suite no.4, based on music by Mozart. The thought of Mozart refracted through Tchaikovsky and choreographed by the musically erudite Mr B. seems to be enough to make it worth booking a trip to London. Then there's other Balanchine; I can always enjoy Symphony in 3 movements, and there's a vast amount of other Stravinsky choreographed by him (though a number of people have had a go at some of it, and it would be good to see what they make of Igor's music).

Other requests: "In the Middle somewhat elevated", and other new stuff to keep our brains active, but keep referring to Symphonic variations as a touchstone of the Ashtonian tradition. A final thought: now that Tudor has been put back on the menu, it's worth pointing out that he did a Romeo and Juliet - to Delius, in 1943, for Markova and Laing. It received some good comments in its day (from the composer Milhaud - he of Le train bleu - I think).

Whilst it would be welcome to see new works in the repetory, I would like to see a revival or two from the RB heritage. Bintley has shown at Birmingham the it is possible to revive seemingly lost ballets like 'The Prospect Before Us' and 'Dante Sonata'. So how about trying to revive Ashton's 'Sylvia'. It might be our last chance!
