"ROH tour...go to it!..also got a glimpse of Persson during Rehersal"

It was lovely to go and see the ROH behind the scenes through the tour...very impressed w/ it, recommend it to anyone who wishes to go...it helps you appreciate all the hard work that goes into a production. When I went to look at the workshop that produces the prop and sets, i got a glimpse of the set for the R & J production to be shortly featured...im so glad that i got tickets for it...makes me look forward to seeing it more! The facilites of the new ROH are so impressive...the space behind the stage is like this massive cave! one gets so overwhelmed by the height and space of it all....one of the men working at the workshop let me see the costumes that the corps wore during swan lake...and the amount of shoes the RB goes through! Got chatting to the lady who looks after all the lil' ones who are dancing in the Nutcracker..she was carrying their costumes when i bumped into her...she said it was one of the best jobs.
One of the things I noticed about all the staff of the ROH was how dedicated and how much the loved working their, the atmosphere was really enegerizing yet relaxed at the same time
Probably the highlight for me was to go and see the RB space...the views from the dancers rest room are just breathtaking..one feels really looked after...i bet the dancers must be so pleased. Had a few minutes to watch Pererson and a girl...not to sure about her name but it sounded like 'Hatley.' Never seen Persson dance or up close before..and his Mug shot in the RB book during preformances is not at all flattering (actually all the mug shots are horrible it does'nt do any justice..even to Bussell!) Only got a few minutes to watch them dance (some bit of the Nutcracker i was told) Persson has a good physique and Im glad hes tall and slim...he held Hately well and though it was just a rehersal they danced beautifully together..he held her up w/ such great ease. Haltey herself was magnetic....wonderful wonderful figure...slim..and her hand movements..which you can concentrate on when your up close were just so elegant. So any comments from anyone...How are Persson and Haltey on stage? they were great in the rehersal room.
One of the funniest momments was when the whole tour (about 55 in total...big!) squeezed into the lift...and on the next floor some young dancers wanted to get in(probably from the corps)...you should have seen their shock when 55 faces stared out at them!...the young dancers had such elegant and exquisite postures..they all looked between the ages of 16-20. I got a few smiles...since i was the only young face out of the mostly old ones. I think the old lady next to me was terrifed that my silver hooped earrings would take her eyes out! But on a more serious note...I recommend the tour to anyone! the new ROH is v. impressive (its 7 quid!) and if your a student or under 18 bring your student card and you only pay 6!

Hatley's one of the best dancers in the company. Haven't formed too much of an opinion about Persson yet, though.

Thanks! seems like the rest of you here at ballet.co i have been bitten by the ballet bug...i dragged my dad who unforunatly is not that keen on the arts along to the tour...and surprisingly enough he enjoyed it...so i think that speaks for itself.

I thought that your promised not to mention a dancers figure? is slim all you can see when you see a dancer? thats not their most important attributes.
