"Adam Cooper"

I was happy to see all the Adam Cooper fans on this site. I saw him in that very brief but affecting moment at the end of Billy Elliot, and then received a copy of "Swan Lake" for Christmas and now I'm a tiny bit obsessed as well. It was very difficult to find anything about him on the web, so I was very grateful to find so much information here! I live in the US, but am planning to visit the UK in the fall. If anyone has any information at all about any performances that Adam might be doing at that time, I would very much appreciate the information. Thanks all!

Dear Gail: As I've mentioned on other links, I'm attempting to get permission to set up a website for Adam to detail when and where he will be performing, but I'm making slow progress at the moment (mainly because I've been so busy in the run up to Christmas). However, I haven't given up the idea, so keep your fingers crossed, and I'll keep trying. Incidentally, Adam had a brief role in a BBC dramatisation of "Madame Bovary", which you may find in a public library during your visit here in the autumn. It doesn't last long, just one line and one dance, but it's quite fun seeing Adam sporting a wonderfully bushy moustache!

   Dear Jane-
An Adam Cooper website would be brilliant. Frankly, I was amazed not to find one when I became aware of him- he obviously was a bit of a sensation both in England and the USA because of Swan Lake, and has been around a while. I'm so glad I got to see his wonderful performance- it has rekindled my interest in dance. I studied as a child with the School of American Ballet in NY, but wasn't talented enough to be a pro. It's fun catching up with the dance world on this website! Thanks for responding- and please keep us posted with any news of Adam!

Gail: Of course I'll let you know, but it may be some while before there's any news. I've written to Adam's agent again, but as the lad himself is with K-ballet at the moment, I doubt if much will be decided until the spring. I will keep trying, though, so don't despair.

   Dear Jane-
Thanks for all your efforts. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'd be happy to write a letter, e-mail someone, whatever. I'm sure that there are others out there who would pitch in as well. It seems a shame that such a charismatic performer should sort of just fade away. I would love to have the opportunity to see more of his dancing. Do you know if Matthew Bourne's Cinderella ever made it to video? Thanks again- Gail

Gail: As far as I'm aware, no, "Cinderella" hasn't and almost certainly won't make it to video. I think the only version is of a rehearsal, which AMP usually take for their archives, but it wasn't filmed and editied for release. The situation might change if and when AMP revive Cinderella at some time in the future. At the moment, they have just finished the Car Man run at the Old Vic, and they are due to film that production around April in collaboration with Channel 4, I believe, before they take Car Man on a European and then North American tour.

I have a tape of the South Bank show which is an interview with Matthew Bourne talking about his previous works and his new work on Cinderella. There a lots of shots of Adam and Sarah creating the roles. Anybody interested in borrowing it are most welcome. E-mail me.

   Hi,
do you know when will Madame Bovary be on television? is it going to be on BBC prime? I'm checking the newspapers every week
but, you know, it takes so much time until movies and tv shows come to Israel...
Is there a way to write to Adam or to his agent or anything...? I mean, he probably doesn't read "fan-mail" but, you know, maybe...?
please help....
Netta
Israel (why, oh WHY???)

   Dear Nettalica-
It was on our BBC station here in the USA last week and the week before- I missed it however! It's also already out on video, if you can find a copy- haven't found it here yet however. By the way, the star of Madame Bovary, Francis O'Connor, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award here in the states. I watched the awards show, and also saw the young boy from Billy Elliot, which was also nominated. So many Adam Cooper connections! Anyway, good luck in finding the show.- Gail
