"Ballet ( a little) on TV "

Don't miss New Year's Day Concert from Vienna tomorrow at 11:15 !
I enjoy this concert every year mainly because of the performance by Vienna State Opera Ballet. They once danced a Neymeier piece if my memory is correct. According to the Radio Times, dancers from POB also will appear. I don't have any details, so I'd better watch the programme.

Theorically Legris must appear in it. Thanks to say to me it would have a Neaumeier piece I don't understand why Legris danced in Vienna. I know he loves too many this troup and often dance with, but I undestand if it's Neumeier because Legris is one of Neumeier's favourite interpret.

I don't see the "past" temp, I don't speak english fluently. They made Neumeier's piece, two years it seemed and I believed Neumeier makes one piece this year again but I was wrong.
This year it was a R. Zanelli pièce. Legris was very good as usual but it was strange to film so far from dancer in some rooms. Legris loves to dance with Vienna ballet.

Although I felt that this year's concert didn't really shine (perhaps it's just not Harnoncourt's thing?), I thought that Manuel Legris was fantastic! I was sad not to see the opera ballet adults - they have such style and elegance (and their costumes are always stunning) and DANCE rather than perform athletics - but I LOVED M. Legris' dancing. When will he visit Britain?

I enjoyed the programme too - especially Manuel Legris!
Did anyone attend the Strauss concert at the Royal Albert Hall? - our own version of the same, c/w dancers from Kate Simmons School of Classical Dance in Warrington! I am sure their performance was just as enjoyable.

Catherine - You are correct about Neumeier. He choreographed three ballet pieces for the 1999 concert, including a 'risque' pad de deux to The Blue Danube which, apparently, ruffled feathers with the traditionally-inclined Viennese.

I saw yesterday's offerings. The most disappointing in a long time. Only two very short ballet bits - the Legris piece (which was nice) and a very brief Harlequin gallop for the children. I noticed that almost all of the 'boys' in tuxedos were girl pupils. Vienna must have a shortage of male pupils, like so many places.
