"Nina Ananiashvili"

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the videos Nina Ananiashvili and Stars Volumes 3 and 4 as they have sold out at Dance Books. Possibly ordering via the internet but I don't know where to look!
Or failing that, if anyone has a copy I could borrow.

Here's hoping!!

I think they were a special convertion of a US video release. They are widely available in the USA and probably available on the internet shopping services. But they are only playable on NTSC capable video machines. I have the videos but it would require converstion at 20 per hour!

just an idea that you might want to develope (maybe even at Ballet.co, Bruce!):

You know how so many of us are trying to get their hands on different ballet videos, and sometimes buying them (the ones we can still find, that is) just costs too much.

Why don't we build some sort of "Ballet Tape Trading Club"? some sort of club where each of the members will have his/her list of videos, email address and contact address, so that we can trade tapes with one another?
there are other Tape Trading Clubs on the net (such as the Gymnastics Trading Club), and from experience - I can tell you it works wonderfully.
Tell me whether you think it's a good idea or not.

It sounds very interesting - I've never come across such clubs - have you a URL for one?

Bruce et. al. - Here is an example of such a club, this one for figure skating tapes. I have traded with several of these people & I've never had a bad deal. Of course, to stay within the law it's important to trade & not purchase (exchange money). The URL is:
http://web.mit.edu/kdonovan/www/skatetrading

It's about time we have one for ballet! Splendid idea.

I think it is a great idea- but care has to be taken over video formats. Most video machines in Europe will not play US (NTSC) video. But more and more machines are being sold with NTSC playback facilities.

As far as I know virtually all machines in the USA will not play back European PAL tapes. This is a pity as there are vastly more ballet videos available in the USA then overhere!

I look forward to the widespread use of DVD in a few years time- it will probably mean the death of audio only media. It could be a great boon to ballet. Imagine Swan Lake in high definition TV with a superb audio soundtack. Let us hope that the Regional Access Codes (which make it impossible to play USA DVDs in Europe) do not impede the progress of this exciting new format!
