"Get Well Soon Darcey ...."

Those of us who attended tonights performance (21st) of Swan Lake
will know of Anthony Dowell's announcement that Darcey Bussell is ill with food poisoning (she has been for the past 48 hrs) and that she did not wish to disappoint members of the audience who wished to see her, adding that she would be not be able to perform Act III and would be replaced by Zenaida Yanowsky.

Darcey gallantly went ahead with Act II and although her technique was sound, she looked facially very ill and the sexual sparkle with Bolle was not there. She bowed out at the end of Act II leaving the rest of the ballet to the under-rated Yanowsky who performed the role with admirable grace in spite of the huge task presented to her. Get well soon Darcey !....
