Can't find anything today. There's a 'Swan Lake' review in The Times but I simply can't spend any more time trying to get into it (and I'd love to read it as I'm sure it's of Zenaida Yanowsky's performance on Wednesday which I saw). If anyone can post it, please do.

There's a review by Crisp at his most pungent of the Rambert triple bill. It's available if you search FT.com using Clement Crisp.

Jane
Thanks for posting the Allen Robertson review of Swan Lake. Broadly speaking I agree with everything he says about Yanowsky's performance. I've been watching her career develop with great interest and I'm sure her Swan Queen will mature into something really exciting. Let's hope some of the other reviewers were in and we will see more tomorrow.

I thought Zenaida's "Swan Lake" was ravishing. She more than fulfilled my expectations. Pure and lavish in movement, she really filled her movements with an expansive, large scale quality that was a joy to watch. Clear mime, unexaggerated arms, extensions in beautiful proportion and a real sense of "line", she's the best RB Swan Queen I've seen for quite a while. I hope she gets more performances of SL very soon.

I agree, as do quite a few people I have spoken to. It was one of those evenings in the "house" when the atmosphere was very special. Let's give some credit to Cope as well for looking after her so well. It was obvious from her reactions to him that his partnering was much appreciated. I also am looking forward to her next performances in this ballet. They can only get even better.

After reading CC's review of 'Celebrated Soubrette' (which I enoyed greatly ) I'm thinking of making a list of my own criteria for potentially enjoyable contemporary dances.
One of them would be 'Clement Crisp hates this' !

And Darcey managed to get her photo in the Telegraph again (something about a limited-edition run of paintings of her, which I think were being sold in aid of charity).

There's a rather sad little article about the sale of some of Fonteyn's artefacts in the Money section of the Sunday Times, p.14.
