the evening began with monica mason coaching deirdre chapman as mitzi caspar then leslie collier coached alina cojocaru and johan kobborg in the final scene 3 pdd .... alina and kobborg were magnificent as usual and with a further 2
weeks of rehearsals before they open it was a mouth-watering trailer.monica mason had said at the start that the dancers were exhausted after a long day of rehearsal so she didnt want to keep them for the full hour and that the final half hour would be reserved for questions .... i am sure that everyone in the audience had a list of questions to ask but in typical british fashion the questions avoided anything controversial and stuck to the topic of mayerling !
the two most interesting snippets were ....
1. all 3 mayerling conductors have so far attended every rehearsal !
2. that 'something has happened' which may alter the partner of
robert tewsley ...monica mason refused to give any further details other
than to confirm that the other 2 partnerships were unchanged (cope/rojo
cojocaru/kobborg)
it was also reassuring to see how comfortable and affectionate the dancers and staff are with monica mason.
another very special insight evening which as i have already said was a mouth-watering trailer.

   I am going to "Mayerling" next month (2 November) and am very much looking forward to it.

Can someone tell me which of Liszt's music was selected by John Lanchbery to provide the ballet score?
